A Psalm
Nothing in this life is perfect
But the presence of the Lord –
All around may fall to pieces,
But His love can still be heard.
Other friends may leave or fail me,
Things elude my careful hold,
But He’ll never, never leave me;
Till His face my eyes behold.
Hopes and dreams may fall or crumble,
Failing health may bring great pain,
But the hope of my redemption
In its fullness will remain.
Things of earth are quickly passing
Though they feel so real today,
But my Savior is unchanging –
He will hear me when I pray.
Heart, don’t be so sad and troubled
When things here dry up and fade,
Just beyond the clouds is waiting
Home where all will be repaid.
Look beyond earth’s gilded baubles
To the place where Jesus waits,
Where real treasure pales in splendor
Just beyond the pearly gates.
Fix your gaze on heaven’s glory
Coming from His throne on high
Where with Him my soul is seated
Far beyond earth’s stormy sky.
Are you quiet now, my spirit?
Can you rest while seeing Him?
He’s worth more than all in heaven –
In His light the sun is dim.
Though this life is so imperfect,
I’ve a hope that cannot fail:
Jesus died and rose to save me –
Through His love I will prevail.
