Sacrifice
(1 Peter 2:24 & Romans 12:1)
You gave Your very body
A sacrifice for me
You bore the pain and anguish
Upon that rugged tree
Now I present my body
A sacrifice to You
To live for You my Saviour
In all I say and do

What Kind of God?
What kind of love would send my Lord
To suffer here for me –
To live with hunger, pain, and strife
Then go to Calvary?
What kind of grace would cause my Lord
To take my sin and shame –
To take my guilt and bear God’s wrath
As if He was to blame?
What kind of joy would move my Lord
To give Himself to die –
Lay down His life to pay a debt
That I would multiply?
What kind of strength would raise my Lord
To live forevermore
Triumphant over sin and death
And open heaven’s door?
What kind of peace would give my Lord
The keys of life that save
So He can pardon and transform
Because His life He gave?
What kind of God is Christ my Lord
Who died and rose for me?
I love Him now, I’ll love Him more
Through all eternity!

A Brand-New Start
As spring is bursting forth anew
In songs of living praise,
I lift my grateful heart to You
And wonder at Your ways.
The leaves appear on tender shoots,
The flowers lend their grace,
The trees extend their mighty roots
While plants resume their place.
The birds are building tangled nests,
Bright butterflies appear,
The bees are busy on their quests
And frogs sing throaty cheer.
The sun shines bright to crown with light
Your masterful display
Inspiring wonder and delight
That grows from day to day.
To You, my God, I lift my heart
With wonder swept away,
And thank You for the brand-new start
You offer day by day.

The Easter Angels
On Resurrection Sunday
An angel rolled away
The stone that blocked the entrance
To Jesus’ tomb that day.
In shining robes of glory
The angel came to show
The Lord of life had risen
So everyone could know.
Then, as the women weeping
Came down and were dismayed,
The angels got to show them
Where Jesus had been laid.
“He isn’t here, He’s risen!
Just like He said, He lives.”
Oh, what a happy message!
What joy and hope it gives!
Now angels ever praise Him –
The Lamb upon His throne –
And we can join the chorus
Which since that day has grown:
Lord, You alone are worthy
Of glory, honor, praise
For You have died and risen –
We marvel at Your ways.

What Jesus Makes of Me
Who knows the mighty power
Of Jesus’ precious blood
Shed freely for my pardon
A perfect cleansing flood?
Its power takes a sinner
Defiled and stained with sin
And makes him pure and holy
At peace with God within.
Its power takes a beggar
With nothing to his name
And makes him rich in heaven
With all that Christ can claim.
Its power takes an orphan
Once lost and left to roam
And makes him God’s adopted
With purpose, love, and home.
Its power takes a rebel,
An enemy of God,
And makes of him a servant
Who spreads God’s love abroad.
This is the mighty power
Of Jesus’ cleansing blood
That saves and makes me holy
Within its cleansing flood.
Oh, precious blood of Jesus
That makes me new and whole!
I’ll ever love and praise Him
Who died to save my soul!

Looking for Stars
Some people fear the darkness
And tremble through the night,
Some love the stars that sparkle
A million points of light.
Some people feel what’s lacking
And live in gloomy fear,
Some look at life’s small blessings
And sense the Lord is near.
For if there was no darkness,
The stars would never shine;
And lack reveals the value
Of what is really mine.
Lord, help me see the blessings
In everything, I pray,
That I might always thank you
Whatever comes today.
