Psalm 46
God is our refuge and our strength,
A present Help in trouble,
Though earth dissolve, the mountains quake
And turn to piles of rubble.
Though oceans roar and billows roll,
Though earth’s foundations waver,
God is our sure and strong resort –
Our strong and mighty Savior.
There is a stream of life which flows
From God’s high throne in heaven,
With peace and healing in its stream
For strength and comfort given.
Within the place His people dwell
God is a safe foundation,
They won’t be moved for He’s their help,
Their strength, and their salvation.
The nations raged, deep troubles came,
God’s voice melts all resistance;
The Lord of hosts is with us still –
He’ll come to our assistance.
Come see the works that God has done,
The wars and strife He’s ended,
He brings true peace upon the earth,
His people He’s defended.
‘Be still and know that I am God
For I will be exalted,
No one will stand against my right
Which they have oft assaulted.’
The Lord of hosts is in our midst
And Israel’s God is with us,
Look up and see Him strong to save
Our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Testing Your Resolve
He’s testing your resolve to do
The things He’s called you to;
If you’ll be faithful when it’s tough
The future’s not so rough.
The waves, You heard Him clearly say,
Will not sweep you away;
He is your anchor in the storm –
His promise He’ll perform.
The flames of trials will not devour,
He keeps you in His power;
You will come through refined and bright –
Pure in His holy sight.
Hold on then to your certain hope,
He’ll help you thrive, not cope;
Stand in His armor fully dressed
Until He brings you rest.

Jesus, sweetest Name of all,
My God and my Redeemer,
Before Your holy throne I fall
A poor, unworthy sinner.
Your Name speaks hope and life and peace
When stormy waves are rolling,
It makes my fears and doubting cease –
My thoughts and heart controlling.
One day Your Name will be confessed
By every tongue created,
Each knee will bow – your right professed
And never more debated.
This Name I love, so sweet and dear,
Is greater than all others,
And yet my Lord is ever near –
He’s closer than all brothers.

Jesus lived and died for me,
Rose again to set me free,
Gave me all His righteousness,
Took my curse my soul to bless.
O how rich His matchless grace
Seen in bearing my disgrace!
How exalted is His love,
Pure as all His works above.
Mystery of mysteries
God a wretched sinner frees
To adopt him as a son –
What has God my Savior done!
I can never comprehend
All it took for God to send
His own Son to die for me,
But I know that I am free.

The Lord is everlasting,
Unchanging, and unique;
No one is like Jehovah
Whose face the righteous seek.
He is their rock and fortress
Through every stormy hour,
Their hiding place and shelter
From every evil power.
The Lord on high is mighty –
All strength belongs to God –
He holds the worlds together,
He stays the raging flood.
He is the Master-craftsman
Who formed the world of naught
And stablished all its goings,
The stars their courses taught.
The voice of God like thunders
Is full of majesty,
It spoke into existence
Time and eternity.
He has revealed His purpose
To us that we might know
The wonder of His working
Which through these worlds He shows.
The Lord on high is holy,
Perfection is His seal;
His inmost thoughts are righteous
As all His Words reveal.
He is the God of mercy,
Of justice, and of love –
The God of our salvation
Who reigns supreme above.

God’s Greatness
We marvel at Your mighty works,
At all Your hand has done,
We cannot comprehend them all
Or count them one by one.
Your grace is higher than the stars,
And deeper than the sea;
Your truth and mercy crown each day –
They last eternally.
Your kindness reaches us in ways
So small and personal,
Because You know us each by name –
You care for each and all.
Your love is boundless as displayed
In giving us Your Son,
To save us from the death we earn
By all the sins we’ve done.
Your wisdom is unsearchable:
If You could be a fool,
Your foolishness would far surpass
Our wisest thought or school.
Your righteousness is beautiful,
No blemishes appear,
For You are perfect, holy, good –
Your ways inspire our fear.
Your strength is stronger than the world
Arrayed against You, Lord.
All else assembled pales before
The power of Your Word.
Your majesty is far beyond
What we can comprehend;
We worship You in reverent awe
When we can’t understand.
Your brightness is a burning flame,
Pure, unapproachable;
Yet stooping down to speak to us
You’re understandable.
You are beyond our highest thoughts,
We can’t attain to You;
But we can worship, love, and fear
Our God each day anew.
