Fervent Prayer
We find ourselves so earnest
In time-consuming prayer
When we become uncertain
Or trouble’s in the air.
We have such heartfelt fervor,
Such desperate pleas we bring
When evil is advancing
And threatens everything.
But do we pray as deeply
To know and love the Lord,
To live as He would have us
In light of His reward?
And do we seek His favor
With half the time and heart
When praying for revival
His Spirit can impart?
These earthly things are passing
And cannot hurt our souls;
Revival is eternal –
Our future it controls.
Oh, let us take the fervor
We learn in desperate hours
To pray for true revival
Until we find it’s ours.
