God’s Word is full of treasures
That I can claim each day
Which guide my love and actions
And teach me how to pray.
Some feed my hungry spirit
With manna from above.
Some hold my heart’s affection
And show my Father’s love.
Some keep my steps from erring,
Correct me when I’m wrong.
Some give me joy unmeasured –
My soul’s devoted song.
Some comfort me in sadness,
Encourage me when down.
Some give me hope and purpose
With glimpses of a crown.
Some draw me close to Jesus
My brother and my friend.
Some give me strength and courage
To stand until the end.
Some stir me up to witness
The love and grace I know.
Some lead me on to glory
In paths where I should go.
Some seem as sweet as honey,
As rich as purest gold.
Some quench my thirst like waters
So sweet and fresh and cold.
Some open like a flower
With beauty fresh and slow.
Some burst with deeper meaning
A sudden, happy glow.
Some soothe my troubled moments
And teach me how to rest.
Some spur me on to action
To find God’s very best.
But all are priceless treasures –
God’s gift to me today.
I’ll seek them out and find them
So none will slip away.
