God’s Word is my treasure,
My portion, my light,
My strength for the journey,
My song in the night,
My hope, my salvation,
My help, my relief,
My life’s explanation,
My code of belief.
It’s sweeter than honey
Right out of the comb,
It’s dearer than family
And leads to my home,
It’s richer than silver
Or rubies or gold,
It’s wiser than wisdom
That men can unfold.
It’s stronger than anger
With all of its rage,
It’s older than Adam
And lasts through each age,
It’s better than favor
From princes and kings,
It’s what I desire more
Than all other things.
God’s Word is my wisdom,
My treasure, my praise,
My guidebook, my songbook
Through life’s winding ways.
It tells me of Jesus,
Salvation, and love,
It shows me the pathway
To heaven above.
