Just a Pilgrim
On earth I’m a stranger and pilgrim
En route to the glorious place
My Father in mercy and kindness
Prepared as my home in His grace.
My treasures are all over yonder,
My portion below I have sold,
There’s nothing to hold me here longer
But friends and good news to be told.
I cannot quite settle in comfort,
There’s nothing that satisfies here,
And friends gone before seem to beckon
From heaven to make the way clear.
A few more short days to tell others
What Jesus has done for my soul,
To lay up more heavenly treasures,
And press toward the prize and the goal.
Lord Jesus, I’m ready, come quickly –
I’m longing for home and for You;
I want to be faithful and ready,
A pilgrim who’s just passing through.
