No Secret Agents

God’s is the only army
That ever stood to fight
That needs no secret agents,
No spies who lurk at night.

He knows with perfect insight
The resources and plan
Of those who fight against Him –
He knows them to a man.

No undercover soldiers
Are needed in His ranks;
No sneaking, hidden forces
Will find He gives them thanks.

God wants bold, open soldiers
Who love their Captain – Christ –
Because He loves and leads them,
His life He sacrificed.

These men and women chosen
By Him who loves them so
Will gladly own their banner
As under it they go.

They look and sound like Jesus,
They do what He would do,
They follow Him to battle,
They trust He’ll bring them through.

You see, He’s won the battle,
Just skirmishes remain,
Our job is now recruiting
Those held by sin’s cruel chain.

If you’ve been undercover
In hopes the world won’t know
Who is your mighty Captain
So you can come and go,

Then show today your colors
With dignity and grace,
And own the Lord who saved you
Whose throne so soon you’ll face.

To those whose life is worthy
Of Christ their Captain, He
Will give rewards and honor –
Press on to victory!

For soon will come the judgement.
(How soon we do not know.)
So on, then, Christian soldier
Hear how His trumpets blow.
