Hosanna in the highest
To David’s royal Son,
Who comes, from sin to free us –
The long-expected One.

He is the Lord Almighty,
Who took on flesh to live
Among us, our Redeemer,
New life to us to give.

Though He is most exalted,
See His humility:
A peasant on a donkey –
See His humanity.

He rode into the city
To be despised and scorned,
Rejected, scourged, and beaten,
With all our shame adorned.

He went with full intention
Of dying in our place,
That we might be forgiven
And know His matchless grace.

Once more we’ll see Him riding
That path from long ago,
Yet as the mighty Victor
His glory He will show.

His people will be shouting,
“Hosanna to our King!
He gave His life to save us.”
His joyful praise we’ll sing.
