Parables

 Our Savior gave us stories
To help us understand
The way to live uprightly
Like He desires and planned.

They talk of a perspective
That sees with eyes of faith
The future God has promised –
A bright and glorious place.

 This heavenly perspective
Will change the way we live;
Bright hope and peace and mercy
This way of life will give.

 It changes what we live for:
A home beyond the sky
Which is a priceless treasure
No earthly wealth can buy.

 It changes what we value:
Investing now above
We lay up heavenly treasure
Kept by God’s mighty love.

 It changes our relations
With those we love and know,
Forgiven, we forgive then,
God’s love we want to show.

 It changes our persistence:
In prayer we now wax bold,
We seek God’s face for mercy
Until the goal we hold.

 These stories Jesus told us
Are so applicable
To daily life and living,
They are so practical.

 Let’s live as Jesus taught us
With eyes fixed firmly to
The things that He has promised
When this short life is through.
