True Hope
True hope is found in Jesus Christ
And in His endless love,
It is the anchor of my soul
Secured by God above.
True hope is having peace with God
Since Jesus died for me,
It’s knowing He’s forgiven me
And made me new and free.
True hope is trusting Him each day
Because I know He’s near
To guide my footsteps and to bless
So I don’t need to fear.
True hope is looking for the Lord
To take me home at last
Where I will see Him face to face
When sin and pain are past.
True hope is knowing Jesus Christ
And trusting Him each day
Because His Word is always true
And guides me all the way.

This Precious Book
Lord, thank You for this precious Book
That speaks to me Your love,
That set me in the way of life
And guides my steps above.
Dear Spirit, give me eyes to see
My Savior in each word,
And help me know how I should live
The things I’ve read and heard.
Please shape my plans and my desires,
Transform my heart and mind;
Help me believe what You have said
And every promise kind.
O, burn its truth within my heart
To shape both thought and deed,
That I might be a living book
For those around to read.
Lord, thank You for this precious Book
That speaks to me Your grace;
Each day I’ll seek and love its truth
Until I see Your face.

God Sees the Sparrows
I know God sees the parrots
With all their showy words,
He sees the brilliant blue jays
And all the singing birds.
But when He told His people
About His tender care,
He talked about the sparrows
So common everywhere.
He doesn’t only notice
The famous or the wise,
The healthy or the mighty,
The ones who seem to rise.
God cares for all His children,
He watches you and me –
Providing and protecting
With love we feel and see.

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7
The Law of God
The law of God gives safety
With truth that’s clear and strong,
It guards the path of duty
And keeps the soul from wrong.
The law of God gives freedom
From doubt and guilt and shame,
It lights the path of blessing
With joy and mercy’s flame.
The law of God gives riches
That do not fade or rust,
It gilds the path of praises
For those who seek and trust.
The law of God gives shelter,
A shield from fear and fraud,
It shows the path of progress
And how to please my God.
The law of God gives wisdom,
It teaches me what’s right,
And paves the path of honor
With courage and delight.
The law of God is perfect
Without mistake or flaw –
Lord, help me live each moment
According to Your law.
Christina Joy Hommes
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: Psalm 19:7a
The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. Psalm 119:72
2 Chronicles 15:7
Be strong and take courage
And be not dismayed
Stand firm and unyielding
In honor arrayed
Be busy and useful
And work for the Lord
Because He has promised
A certain reward
So don’t be discouraged
But strengthen your hands
In prayer and in service
As Jesus commands
The Savior is calling
And offers reward
To all who will labor
In love for the Lord

“Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
Why Do We Sin?
Why do we sin? Because like Eve
We think the fruit looks good
We think God wouldn’t really do
The things He’s said He would.
We do not stop to look around
And see the fruit God gave,
Instead the one that He forbids
We think we really crave.
We stop to hear the devil’s lies
And let him twist God’s Word,
We give it thought and let our hearts
Be moved by what we’ve heard.
We do not run from those who scorn
And boldly question God,
Who want to be like God themselves
While evil they applaud.
We do not pray for instant help,
For strength to meet each blow,
For wisdom and integrity
To do the things we know.
And so, like Eve, we take the fruit,
We eat and share it too –
We find its sting and feel its death
And say, “What did I do?”
But if like Christ we’ll use God’s Word
To meet the tempter’s lies
And run to Him for grace and strength
He’ll make us strong and wise.
Then, like the Lord, we’ll win the fight,
The flesh will have to flee,
For God will give to those who ask
The strength for victory.
