Who’s wrapped in swaddling bands and laid
Within a cattle stall?
It is the Lord who made all things,
The King high over all.
Who’s wrapped in grave clothes, laid to sleep
Within a cold, dark grave?
It is the Lord of life and light
With strength to heal and save.
Who’s wrapped in glory as a robe,
And clothed in majesty?
It is the Son of man who came
In great humility.
Who’s clothed in white and seated round
The throne of God above?
These are the ones that Jesus saved,
Redeemed by His great love.

Christ came to stand where Adam fell,
To pass where Adam failed,
Yet when we look at what they faced
‘Twere rougher seas Christ sailed.
For Adam had a perfect world
In which to face his test,
But Jesus lived beneath the curse,
In suffering faced His test.
And Adam had but two commands
To which he must attend,
While Christ had all the Law of God
Yet not one truth would bend.
In Adam’s world all things were sweet
And every need was met,
Instead our Savior knew great want
With trials He was beset.
Despite his blessings Adam fell
And plunged us into woe,
Yet Jesus stood against the world
His grace and love to show.
So when temptation beckons you
In darkness or in light,
Stand in the shadow of the Cross
And choose the path that’s right.

Echo of the Angels’ Song
What is this voice of singing
So jubilant and bright
Which from the fields is ringing
This joyful Christmas night?
The sound of angel voices
So beautiful and clear –
Oh, how my heart rejoices
For what my ears now hear:
“Fear not, I bring you tidings
Of joy with glad refrain:
The Lord is now residing
Among the sons of men.
“To you, as to all people,
A Savior has been born;
He lies in yonder stable
To greet the break of morn.
“This is the Lord, Messiah,
In David’s city see,
Fulfilling words from Micah
And every prophesy.”
Then, suddenly appearing,
A band of angels sang
To shepherds gladly hearing –
The very heavens rang.
“To God Most High be glory,
And peace upon the earth.”
’Twas thus they shared the story
Of Christ our Savior’s birth.
I hear the glorious singing
Resounding from that night,
Its echo ever ringing
In carols glad and bright.

Christmas 2015
Who is this child born long ago
That we recall this story so?
Why do we stop and celebrate
His advent to commemorate?
This child is Christ, the Promised One,
The Lord of all, God’s only Son,
Who took on flesh and came to earth
A peasant of such lowly birth.
This little baby, poor and weak,
Whom distant monarchs came to seek,
Is Lord of lords and King of kings
Of whom the angel chorus sings.
Why did He come and live below
To share our pain, our grief to know?
He came to save us from our sin
And make us pure and right within.
He came to set His people free
From sin and death and misery,
To give to all who will receive
The gift of life when they believe.
This baby born tonight is Lord,
Do not despise His promised Word
That all who trust on Him will be
Saved now and through eternity.
