God Loves It When We Trust Him
God loves it when we trust Him
With simple, childlike faith
That doesn’t doubt or worry
But rests in loving grace.
He loves it when our actions
And countenance display
A confident assurance
That He’ll direct our way.
He loves a joyful spirit
That cannot see ahead
But holds to every promise
The Lord Himself has said.
He loves our quiet watching
For what His hand will do
That says, “The Lord’s been faithful –
He always brings me through.”
He loves a heart that’s peaceful
When facing flood and flame –
A living song of worship
That magnifies His Name.
He loves it when we trust Him
Not just for life above
But through the storms, believing
His tender care and love.

Between
Between the cross and Sunday
Were days of bitter gloom
To those who took Christ’s body
And laid it in a tomb,
Because they’d all forgotten
His promise He would rise
And see them three days later
When He’d secured the prize.
But Christ had not forgotten
Or let their unbelief
Distract Him from His purpose
Though they were lost in grief.
Before the dawn had broken
That Sunday, He arose
Our everlasting Savior
Who conquered all His foes.
Behold the risen Savior
With nail prints in His hands –
The tokens of His conquest
While glorified He stands.
Believe His saving promise
For He will keep His Word
Though everyone’s forgotten
The precious things they’ve heard.
Between the resurrection
And rapture let’s hold fast
His faithful words of promise
That He will come at last.

The Waiting Year
I step into the waiting year
With confidence because
I know Whose hand I’m holding to
And what His goodness does
I will not fear its unknown paths
Or seek to change God’s plan
Because He started loving me
Before the world began
I’ll trust my needs and wants to Him
Without a worried care
Because I’ve seen Him work before
And know He hears my prayer
I’ll praise Him now for what He’ll do
Throughout the year ahead
Because I know He’s always good
And does just what He’s said
In faith and hope with joy and peace
I’ll greet the waiting year
Because I know Whose hand I hold
And Jesus will be near

The Things We Choose
The Scriptures we have treasured
When days are glad and bright
Become a kind of lifeline
When day has turned to night.
The hymns we love so dearly
When things are going fine
Become a kind of anchor
When hope is on the line.
The friendships we have nurtured
When life is at its best
Become a kind of safeguard
When troubles bring a test.
The things we choose to dwell on
When everything is good
Are what we’ll have in trials –
Let’s choose the things we should.

I Trust You, Lord
I trust You, Lord, with all my heart
For You are good and true;
Your thoughts are kind, Your will endures,
And I can count on You.
I trust You, Lord, with all I am –
There’s nothing I must hide;
You know me well and love me still,
And You are on my side.
I trust you, Lord, with all I have –
I give it all to You;
Please show me how You want it used
And tell me what to do.
I trust You, Lord, with all I want
For You are good and kind;
I place my future in Your hands
And seek to know Your mind.
I trust you, Lord, with all my life –
My strength and love are Yours;
Increase my faith, direct my steps,
And open blessing’s doors.

Do You Have a Worry-Pet?
Some people have a worry-pet
That’s living in their soul,
It seems to keep them company
But quickly takes control.
They let it out to take a walk
And feed it every day,
They play and romp and give it treats
And give the pet its way.
It grows and grows until at last
It’s far too big to lead,
It comes to be the one in charge
And shows its endless greed.
However bad this pet becomes
It gets a pass to stay,
Because they want companionship
And know no other way.
But Jesus comes and says to give
Your worry-pet to Him
Before it drains your final joy
Or pulls you limb from limb.
He wants to be your loving Friend
So faithful, kind, and true,
He wants your good and you will find
He’s always there for you.
He’ll help you come if you have found
Your pet’s too big to bring,
He’ll help you give your fears to Him
And trust in everything.
When worry comes, don’t let it grow,
Don’t give it time and space —
Run straight to Christ, give thanks, and ask
For help and strength and grace.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6-7
