O Day of Resurrection!
O day of resurrection
Alive with promise bright
Of endless life and glory
Beyond the shades of night,
We greet you with rejoicing,
With hymns and anthems sweet
Because our foes lie conquered
Beneath our Savior’s feet!
We lift our hearts in praises
To Him who rose to life,
Who bought with His own life-blood
The triumph in the strife;
He took our sins and sorrows
And died upon the tree
That for the vast forever
We might be fully free.
We bring our happy worship
With glad and joyful song
To honor our Redeemer
So loving, good, and strong;
For when He rose to glory,
He proved our debt was paid
Forever, fully canceled –
We need not be afraid
So on this happy morning
Above the rest we bring
Our joyful songs of praises
To Jesus Christ our King,
For by Your resurrection
You made us free and new –
Eternal hallelujahs
Be evermore to You!

Twice By Faith Alone
By faith alone a man believes
The gift of God is free,
Without true faith you can’t be saved
And gain eternity.
By faith alone a Christian lives
If he would please the Lord,
Without true faith you can’t please God
And find His rich reward.
Twice over, then, by faith alone
We live by faith not sight,
Because we hope for things unseen
Which God will bring to light.

Spring Awakes
While Spring is just awaking
Above the frozen ground
And leaves are slightly breaking
Through buds that kept them bound
While birds are all returning
To sing their happy songs
The earth is gently turning
To where its course belongs
While flower bulbs are showing
Their green above the earth
And everything is growing
To offer hope’s rebirth
Our hearts can join the praises
And lift a joyful song
Which all creation raises
To God so wise and strong
Let’s take some time renewing
Our hope and joy in God
In faith and love reviewing
His beauty spread abroad

A Choppy Sea Ahead
Psalm 61:2
I see a choppy sea ahead
Where breakers toss and roll
With waves that reach above my head
Each crashing on my soul.
I feel so small, so very weak –
They overwhelm my heart;
But then the Rock of strength I seek
Which can’t be torn apart.
That Rock of strength and love and grace,
That Rock that’s always there
Stands strong for me – a hiding place,
A refuge found in prayer.
There I’m restored with strength of soul,
With courage, faith, and love;
It gives me light and makes me whole
With hope from God above.
So though the storms may rage beyond
I have no lasting fear –
In faith and hope I can respond
For Christ is always near.

“From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2
The Gospel in Three Tenses
(Past, Present, and Future)
When first I met the Gospel
And bowed my heart to grace,
It canceled all my sin debt
And showed me mercy’s face;
I joined God’s own dear family
His child reborn in love,
And got a place in heaven
Secured for me above.
Now as I live the Gospel
And yield to it each day,
I find that it’s transforming
The things I think and say;
My goals and my ambitions,
My plans and hopes are new,
All things in Christ are different –
It changes all I do.
Then I will claim the Gospel
When every battle’s won,
And it will bear me onward
To hear Christ say, “Well done.”
To heights of joy and freedom,
To depths of love and praise
The Gospel still will lead me
Throughout eternal days.

Then, with a flash of glory,
He’ll burst upon our sight,
And we will all behold Him
In raptures of delight.
For in His blinding glory
We’ll find ourselves transformed –
Made lastingly immortal,
Like Him at last re-formed.
O what a day of glory!
O what an hour of joy!
In hopeful expectation
Each moment I’ll employ.
