At Rest in Christ
At rest in Christ – a precious place
Where heart and soul are still
To feel His presence, know His love,
And find His perfect will.
At rest in Christ – where strivings cease
And busy pressures pause
To hear His promise, find His strength,
And grasp His worthy cause.
At rest in Christ – where I am free
From storm and sin and strife
To tune my heart, to catch His joy,
To find the source of life.
At rest in Christ – Lord, help me reach
This secret place of rest
Where I am one with You and find
The path that You have blessed.

Rooted in Christ
Like trees so deeply rooted
That though life’s storms may blow
They stand through all securely,
We must take root to grow.
We must abide in Jesus
Through fellowship and prayer
So we can know the blessings
He daily wants to share.
We must be well established
On Jesus day by day –
His strength and truth our anchor,
His Word our hope and stay.
We must find satisfaction
In Jesus Christ alone –
Delighting in His presence
And all the love He’s shown.
Then storms of life can shake us
But we will stand secure,
For when we’re firmly rooted
In Christ we will endure.

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: Rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
New Year Prayer
If I could ask for just one thing
To crown this year, dear Lord,
I want to know what You are like
For You are my reward.
I want to know You as You are –
Your nature pure and true,
Your thoughts so loving and so kind,
The things You plan to do.
I want to know the things You like
And those that grieve Your soul;
I want to sense when You are pleased
And yield to Your control.
I want to walk with You each day
My constant, faithful Friend;
I want to hear You in Your Word
And spot the gifts You send.
I want to speak to You in prayer
And watch You work for me,
To find Your will and make it mine,
To trust Your guarantee.
I want to know You more and more –
Lord, grant my prayer this year;
For as I seek You, You have said
That I will find You near.

What Is Christmas?
The wonder of a baby
So tiny, sweet, and new,
Of angels gladly singing –
The Savior’s here for you!
The joy of startled shepherds
To hear the Lord was near,
Of Mary, now a mother,
Who held a Son so dear.
The love of God to send us
His only Son that day,
Of Jesus to be willing
To come to us that way.
The peace that Christ was bringing
To those once lost in sin,
Of knowing God can welcome
Repentant sinners in.
The spirit of that Christmas
Can still be ours today
If we will stop to wonder
To worship, sing, and pray.

Is He Welcome?
The inn was full and busy,
But somewhere in a stall
They made a space to welcome
The Savior for us all.
The world seems far too busy
To welcome Him today,
The noted, rich, and famous
Have turned the Lord away.
But if we’ll make Him welcome,
He’ll take us as His own
To dwell with us forever
And make our hearts His throne.

True Hope
True hope is found in Jesus Christ
And in His endless love,
It is the anchor of my soul
Secured by God above.
True hope is having peace with God
Since Jesus died for me,
It’s knowing He’s forgiven me
And made me new and free.
True hope is trusting Him each day
Because I know He’s near
To guide my footsteps and to bless
So I don’t need to fear.
True hope is looking for the Lord
To take me home at last
Where I will see Him face to face
When sin and pain are past.
True hope is knowing Jesus Christ
And trusting Him each day
Because His Word is always true
And guides me all the way.
