Dwarfing Giants
The giants we are facing
Can seem so big and strong
That fighting them seems useless
Though they are clearly wrong.
But when we shift our focus
And look at God above
So great in grace and wisdom,
In power, skill, and love,
It changes our perspective –
God’s greatness dwarfs the rest –
And suddenly the giants
Are just a little test.
We’ll bring our stones and slingshot
Or march ’round Jericho,
We’ll face the blazing furnace
Or tell the devil “Go!”
Because our God is bigger
And He will always win,
So, when we’re facing giants,
Let’s only look at Him.

My Old Receipts
The devil tries to give me
Receipts for all my sin
And tells me I must keep them
To reference once again.
But when the Lord forgave me,
He wiped the record clean –
He cast it out forever
So nothing’s left between.
For Jesus loves and saved me,
He died for me in love,
And now He wants to draw me
By grace to look above.
So I’ll destroy my records
Since God’s are gone for good –
I know that He’ll accept me
Just as He’s said He would.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us. Psalms 103:12
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve. Jeremiah 50:20
He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19
Why Do We Sin?
Why do we sin? Because like Eve
We think the fruit looks good
We think God wouldn’t really do
The things He’s said He would.
We do not stop to look around
And see the fruit God gave,
Instead the one that He forbids
We think we really crave.
We stop to hear the devil’s lies
And let him twist God’s Word,
We give it thought and let our hearts
Be moved by what we’ve heard.
We do not run from those who scorn
And boldly question God,
Who want to be like God themselves
While evil they applaud.
We do not pray for instant help,
For strength to meet each blow,
For wisdom and integrity
To do the things we know.
And so, like Eve, we take the fruit,
We eat and share it too –
We find its sting and feel its death
And say, “What did I do?”
But if like Christ we’ll use God’s Word
To meet the tempter’s lies
And run to Him for grace and strength
He’ll make us strong and wise.
Then, like the Lord, we’ll win the fight,
The flesh will have to flee,
For God will give to those who ask
The strength for victory.
