The God Who Came
But of the things called god,
You are the only One who came
To us and walked our sod.
You came because You love us so
With love that has no end.
You came to reconcile and make
An enemy a friend.
You came because we had no strength
To save ourselves from sin.
You came because we had no hope
Until You entered in.
You came though You transcend all things
And made all things that are.
You came when we still hated You
And strayed so very far.
You came to us, our God in flesh,
Incarnate Word of life.
You came to conquer death and hell
And end sin’s bitter strife.
You came our God, our Savior, Friend,
You came the Lord of love.
You came to make us each Your own
And bring us home above.
You stand alone the God of all;
You are the God who came.
Lord, here before Your feet we fall
To praise Your holy Name.
