The Word of God

The Word of God – eternal,
Unchanging, and unique –
From everlasting ages,
Before creation week.

By Him was all created;
All things that now exist
Without Him have no being –
In Him they all subsist.

In Him is life eternal,
The light of everyone;
Yet from deep shades of darkness
The world saw not its Sun.

He was foretold by prophets,
A man named John was sent
To set in expectation
Those who would hear, repent.

John was a faithful witness
(A servant, not the Light)
To point to Him that lightens
The world and ends its night.

The Word was in the world
Which had by Him been made,
Yet it knew not its Maker
But love with hate repaid.

He came unto His people
His chosen nation, yet
His own would not receive Him –
Which soon they will regret.

But those who would receive Him,
Believe upon His Name,
He freely gave great power –
God’s children they became.

These were not born by nature
Or by their own design,
But by God’s plan – eternal,
Unchanging, and divine.

The Word of God, incarnate,
Made flesh to dwell below
With us, and we beheld Him –
God humbled, God made low.

We saw Him in His glory,
The glory of His place,
God’s only Son, begotten,
Full both of truth and grace.

The whole world’s not sufficient
To hold the records of
The life He lived among us
Before He rose above.

Now He has sent this message:
“I am returning soon.”
Prepare Yourself – He’s coming!
It may be night or noon.
