Walking with Jesus
I gave my life to Jesus,
Asked Him to save my soul –
He graciously received me,
Began to make me whole.
We’ve walked since then together
Along life’s path each day,
And I’ve begun to notice
Things in a different way.
He is so pure and holy,
His Spirit lives in me;
I cannot help rethinking
What He must think and see.
Some things I’ve started doing
Because they please Him so
Or help me get to know Him
As on toward home we go.
Some things I’ve stopped forever
Because they are not right
To do when He is with me,
He is so pure and bright.
Each day it seems I’m finding
New things about my Friend
That bring a new perspective
On what He would commend.
Some things are hard to part with
And leave an aching void
Till He bestows great blessing
As these things I avoid.
Some things are hard to work on,
Some habits hard to build;
But they yield many blessings –
With benefits they’re filled.
So I am slowly changing,
Like Christ I want to be;
Each day I am becoming
What He is making me.
And as I reconsider
The things I sacrifice,
I find they were destroying
My happiness and life.
While for each Christ-like habit
And every choice that’s right
He richly pours upon me
His grace and peace and light.
He is my Friend, my Savior,
He’s worth all things to me.
Lord, make me more like Jesus
In holy purity.
