You’re All That I Desire
One day the valley seemed too low,
The river felt too deep,
It seemed the furnace burned too hot,
I’d no more tears to weep.
I voiced my broken heart’s complaint,
My Shepherd heard my prayer;
He listened gently to my cry,
And showed His tender care.
Then Jesus touched my blinded eyes,
At once by faith I saw
’Twas in the depths I learned of Him –
His purpose had no flaw.
Ah, fickle creature that I am,
I poured a different prayer
Into my faithful Shepherd’s ear
So kind beyond compare:
Lord, I’d choose You a thousand times
You’re all that I desire
Oh draw me closer though it take
A valley, flood, or fire.
