Jesus

Friend, do you know who Jesus is?
He means so much to me –
He is my Savior, Friend, and Guide.
What more could someone be?

He gave His life to purchase mine
Though I deserved to die,
For I’d rebelled against God’s law –
Don’t hate, don’t steal, don’t lie…

Though He was perfect, He stepped in
And took my guilty place
As if it was His own and died
To pay my debt in grace.

And then He rose to give His place
Of perfect good to me
So I could be God’s child and live
With Him eternally.

One day I saw my works were vain –
They could not pay my fine.
I trusted in His work and asked
To call His mercy mine.

At once He made the great exchange
For which I had applied –
He took my sins and, in His love,
Became my Lord and Guide.

Now I am His and He is mine,
I follow in His way.
He’ll never leave me on my own,
But walks with me each day.

So now you see why Jesus means
So very much to me.
Won’t you take Jesus as your own?
He’s calling: “Come, be free.”
